Dolls house art gallery curated by Carole Griffiths, Bradford, West Yorkshire
Art House- Home of Dis/Content is a large dolls house which has access on three sides, It is elevated on a vintage trolly with wheels to give it portability.
The Art House utilises the interior to display small art works reflecting themes of domesticity. This first exhibition also includes 2Rooms dedicated to 4 selected artists which were invited to respond to the poetic chaos of domesticity as seen through the kitchen utensil . The renewal of the Art House is to present a vessel that shelters and articulates new works on a small scale which address gestural habits and personal autobiographies of the ‘home-maker’ and the everyday experience. Through materiality and meaning making small can allow for further intrigue, curiosity and intimacy.
My sculptures emphasise the pleasures of making through a poetic reflection of both the method and the content, allowing the observer to perceive and depict the peculiar and intricate relationship between things, subjects, and words through the observed domestic object .I exhibit works that are made of a variety of materials and are displayed in a variety of settings , depending on the themes, This includes group shows and installations with The Yorkshire Sculptors Group and The Unlocked Collective which focuses on responses to historical settings and archival content.
