1:12 scale gallery made entirely from recycled packaging presenting artwork through a digital online presence curated by Tannar Veatch, San Francisco, California, USA
Corugat Loft is a not-for-profit 1:12 scale gallery committed to the development and display of small and miniature artworks in an environment that challenges perception. Our mission is to expand the definition of virtual reality by creating a fully immersive space in which experimentation is highly encouraged, and artists have the opportunity to create works that transcend scale, physics and other obstacles of our day-to-day dimensionality.
Corugat Loft opened in Dec ’22, and our exhibition criteria were simply that an artist would create small works, commit to their exhibition dates, and commit to the ethos of our gallery: namely that their art would be made thoughtfully, challenge perceptions of scale, and help broaden the definition of “virtual reality.” After a single call for work, we booked our entire ’23 program calendar with 4-week solo exhibitions ranging from paintings to sculpture to new media and installation. There was no jury process, all artists who applied were accepted in the order their proposals were received.
